TomTom predicts busiest Christmas shopping venues

TomTom has published a list of the 25 European Christmas shopping venues that it predicts will experience the most traffic this month.
At the top of the list is the Westfield Shopping Centre in London, which is set to be the busiest venue in Europe on December 5th.
Experts at the TomTom HD Traffic Centre came to this conclusion after analysing traffic data from 2009.
They also predict that more people are likely to do their Christmas shopping earlier than expected this year and that the first Saturday of the month will be the busiest.
Ralf-Peter Schaefer, traffic director at TomTom, said: "Adverse weather conditions mixed with lots of extra Christmas shoppers is a recipe for traffic chaos on the roads."
He went on to advise people to check live traffic informaton on their route before they set out on the roads.
Earlier this week, the AA reported that it had received just shy of 20,000 calls for assistance by 17:30 GMT on November 29th, largely due to the winter weather.
