Subaru to absorb VAT hike

Posted by Susannah Mayers

Subaru UK has announced that it will not be passing today's (January 4th) VAT increase on to most of its customers.

The car manufacturer will absorb the 2.5 per cent rise itself when it comes to the majority of vehicle sales, with 80 per cent of the Subaru range remaining unchanged for 2011.

Subaru UK marketing director Kenyon Neads said: "For the vast majority of our customers the decision not to pass on the VAT rise is great news, particularly anyone in the market for a Forester, Legacy, Outback or WRX STI Type UK."

The firm explained that the Forester SUV range, for example, will still start at £21,295 for the entry level 2.0X and rise to £28,995 for the 2.0D XS NavPlus.

Last month, the team at Scottish Subaru dealership Alex F Noble & Son transported members of the British Red Cross to the areas of Dalkeith in Midlothian that were worst hit by the severe weather in order to help the elderly and infirm. ADNFCR-2370-ID-800322375-ADNFCR
