IAM launches assessment for younger drivers

Posted by Fiona Birkwood

The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) has launched a two-part assessment for the younger driver.

Called Momentum, the assessment is for 17-25 year olds who have passed both their theory and practical driving tests.

Much like a driving test, it includes two elements – an interactive online assessment and an on-road session with an IAM examiner.

There is no risk of failure, the assessment merely offers a quick and low-cost way of improving younger drivers' confidence, awareness and safety on the roads.

IAM chief executive officer Simon Best said: "Momentum is a relaxed and effective way for young drivers to gain experience in a supportive environment to get them through this dangerous stage in their early driving years."

Earlier this month, Brake announced that this year's Road Safety Week will specifically aim to reduce the number of accidents that young people are involved in.

It will take place from November 21st to 27th under the theme 2young2die. ADNFCR-2370-ID-800358235-ADNFCR
