Road safety experts to meet to discuss public spending cuts

Road safety experts are set to meet next month to discuss how the public spending cuts will impact upon the prevention of accidents.

They will meet at a seminar hosted by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (Rospa) entitled Road Safety in a Time of Reduced Public Spending.

Here the challenges faced by road safety professionals in the face of cuts will be looked at closely.

How to make the most effective use of tight budgets will also be discussed at the seminar.

Kevin Clinton, Rospa's head of road safety, said: "Road safety practitioners will now need to operate against a very different economic background and will have to deliver their interventions within much smaller budgets."

"The phrase 'more for less' will echo through the next few years," he added.

Earlier this month, UK charity Brake announced the date and theme of this year's Road Safety Week.

It will take place from November 21st to 27th under the theme 2young2die.ADNFCR-2370-ID-800363762-ADNFCR
