Motorists should take extra care on UKs potholed roads

Motorists should be extra careful on the roads at the moment due to the number of potholes that are present.

This is according to GEM Motoring Assist, which explained that the extensive road damage was caused by the freezing temperatures and heavy snowfall experienced in the country over the past few months.

David Williams, chief executive of GEM Motoring Assist, said: "We are encouraging drivers to stay alert and where possible take it upon themselves to report serious potholes."

The road safety organisation advised drivers to keep their eyes peeled for dangerous potholes on the routes that they take frequently and to find an alternative routes, if necessary.

It also recommends keeping their distance from the car in front and sticking to the speed limit.

Last month, Kwik Fit revealed that 38 per cent of British motorists had taken dangerous evasive action in the previous 12 months to avoid a pothole.ADNFCR-2370-ID-800391659-ADNFCR
