More financial support is due to be offered to English councils by the coalition government, in a bid to try and tackle the problems caused by potholes, it has been revealed.
In order to repair winter potholes, additional funding of £100 million will be made available by ministers.
Discussing the new support, Philip Hammond, the country's secretary for transport, commented that potholes can have a negative impact on many people's driving experiences.
He stated: "I am determined to see the winter damage to our roads fixed as quickly as possible and we will be working with councils to make sure that happens."
In the coming four years, a sum of £3 billion is also due to be offered by ministers in relation to road maintenance.
Meanwhile, the government has also outlined plans this month to help councils address the problems which can sometimes be posed to pedestrians by pavement parking.
