Road safety benefits could be offered by double BST

Road safety benefits could arise if plans to introduce double British summertime (BST) go ahead in the UK, according to one commentator from the Institute of Advanced Motorists.
Neil Greig, the organisation's director of policy and research, suggested that plans to put forward the clocks by an extra hour on a permanent basis might improve the safety of drivers and pedestrians using the country's roads.
He stated: "We looked at the evidence and the evidence does seem to suggest that … most pedestrian fatalities and most pedestrian injuries take place in the afternoon after school when children tend to be less supervised."
However, car insurance costs might not be affected too much if plans to create double BST do go ahead, Mr Greig went on to say, with premiums not likely to go down any further.
Brake has also recently given its backing to proposals to make daylight last longer into the evening.

Well said. BTW – looks great on my iPhone, but on the Blackberry Pearl’s browser your site comes out a little funky.
