Car insurance quotes may be affected by court ruling

From next December, drivers in the UK might see amended car insurance premiums, one organisation suggests, as a result of a recent European Court of Justice decision regarding gender.
Gender will no longer be a factor for insurers to consider when they offer prices to people who are seeking cover, the Association of British Insurers (ABI) noted after a European Court of Justice ruling.
Acting director at the ABI Maggie Craig commented that the ruling represents something of a disappointing development.
She stated: "The judgment ignores the fact that taking a person's gender into account, where relevant to the risk, enables men and women alike to get a more accurate price for their insurance."
The ruling was also described as being disappointing by the NFU Mutual group chief executive Lindsay Sinclair.
Female car users are among the consumers who could be negatively impacted by it, the commentator additionally remarked.
