Brake: Proposed speed increase is immoral

Road safety charity Brake has claimed that alleged government plans to increase the speed limit on the UK's motorways are "simply immoral".
According to a piece published in the Daily Mirror earlier this week, ministers want to increase the speed limit on motorways from 70 mph to 80 mph by July, in time for the summer recess.
Ellen Booth, campaigns officer at Brake, said that increasing the speed limit will lead to more deaths and serious injuries on the roads.
She said that an increase in accidents causes "devastating trauma to families", as well as a large economic burden on the country.
"It would also fly in the face of this government's commitment to lower carbon emissions. In short, a decision to raise the motorway limit would go against safety, environmental and financial sense," Ms Booth added.
Back in January, research conducted by Which? revealed that more than half of all the fixed speed cameras in England and Wales do not work at any one time.

People need to be shown how to drive effectively on motorways ,and that include those who drive too slowly in the middle lanes as much as those who speed in a reckless manner . There is driving fast and there is driving like an idiot , they are not the same ! the accident rate on german autobahn is lower because they understand HOW to drive fast , idiots are still prosecuted .
