Safe driving is a legal and moral obligation

Every motorist in the UK should see driving safely as both a legal and moral obligation, RoadSafe has claimed.
Adrian Walsh, director of the road safety partnership, suggested that when people are driving they cannot cut corners in terms of what they pay attention to and the rules they abide by.
He said that motorists must be aware of "all aspects of traffic law but the guiding principle is to share the road".
Mr Walsh went on to suggest that some may see the elderly as being vulnerable on the roads, but that this is not the case.
"Far from it, they are among the safest," he explained.
Back in January, Clare Simpson, communications executive at RoadSafe, recommended that elderly motorists go for regular health check-ups as many age-related problems, such as deteriorating vision, can have an affect on driving ability.
She went on to say that modern cars, such as those with raised seats for easy access, can prove helpful to the elderly.
