The government has given the go ahead to plans to widen the A11 between Norwich and the M11.
Roads minister Mike Penning announced yesterday (March 22nd) that the last single carriageway section of the A11 between Barton Mills, Suffolk, and Thetford, Norfolk, will be widened.
Funding for the scheme was confirmed following October's spending review, but it is only now that statutory planning and order making processes have been completed.
Mr Penning said that the government is committed to improving the journeys undertaken by those living and visiting the UK.
"So I am pleased to announce that this vital scheme has completed its final planning stages and can now proceed to construction," he added.
Mr Penning went on to say that the scheme has "very high levels of public support".
Earlier this week, the government announced that it was going to make improved testing equipment to detect drink and drug-drivers available to police forces across the nation.
