Car finance sales fell in February

The number of new cars bought on finance through dealerships fell by 14 per cent from February 2010 to the same month of this year, new figures have shown.
Published by the Finance and Leasing Association (FLA), the data reveals that 21,920 new cars were bought on finance through dealerships in February 2011.
In terms of used cars, however, the number bought during the month remained around the same as in February 2010, at 54,349.
As for new cars bought on finance through businesses, the number reached 20,968 in the second month of this year, which is 16 per cent fewer than in February 2010.
The number of used cars bought on finance by businesses in February was 2,404, which is a massive 43 per cent fewer than in the same month of last year.
In March, the FLA revealed that motor finance fraud cases fell by 14 per cent in 2010.
