Prepare for bank holiday breakdowns

Motorists are being advised to give their vehicles a once-over to check that they are in good running order and avoid suffering breakdowns over the coming bank holiday weekends.
The main piece of advice GEM Motoring Assist is offering motorists is to make sure they have adequate breakdown cover.
David Williams, chief executive officer of GEM, said: "Too often there are drivers who have no breakdown cover whatsoever, meaning they are left in a very tricky situation should something go wrong."
GEM also recommends that motorists check their tyre pressures, battery, oil level, coolant system, car lights, fuel and mirrors before setting off on a long journey.
Drivers should plan their journeys in advance and make sure that they have clear directions.
Keeping a road map in the car is always a good idea as it can come in handy if a sat-nav stops working.
Last month, GEM revealed that UK motorists believe tailgating is the most serious offence committed on motorways.

Don’t debit cards/credit cards still work during bank holidays in the U.K? Here in the U.S we can still use our debit cards. Plus if the banks are closed then most car repair shops will be closed too so chances are you would still need to wait until the next business day.
