Motorists should learn how to care for their cars

Motorists could save a lot of money if they learned how to complete a number of simple maintenance jobs themselves, a car care firm has claimed.
STP said that many motorists, but especially younger ones, are afraid of carrying out DIY repairs on their vehicles, but that this should not be the case.
"The younger generation of motorists don't tend to subscribe en-masse to a preventative culture," said Veronica Fung, brand manager of STP.
She went on to say that it is a lack of knowledge on how to conduct simple maintenance procedures which is impeding this group's engagement in car-related DIY projects.
Matthew Minter of Haynes, which produces DIY manuals for motorists, said that fuel-injected engines are no more complex to tackle than other power houses and can be tackled by those who have done their research.
Earlier this month, STP suggested that motorists can increase the fuel efficiency of their vehicles by adding a petrol treatment or diesel treatment to their engines every 1,000 miles.
