Brake mascot helps launch road safety event

Brake's mascot Zak the Zebra is visiting Langley Vale in Surrey today (May 9th) to back a campaign to make roads safer for children and other people who live in the area.
A road safety awareness afternoon has been organised by local parents, schoolchildren and members of the community of Langley Vale.
They are to call for new road safety measures to be introduced on Beaconsfield Road, which is where the Vale Primary School is located.
The locals would like the speed limit on the road to be reduced and those who park badly to be clamped down on.
Julie Townsend, campaigns director at Brake, said the death or injury of a child in road accidents causes "appalling suffering".
"We must do more to prevent these tragedies, and to enable people to walk and cycle without fear," she added.
Last month, Ms Townsend said that the number of breath tests carried out on drivers who are suspected to be over the drink-drive limit should be increased.
