Suspension issues are most likely to cause first MOT failure

Suspension component failure is the problem that is most likely to cause a car to not pass its first MOT.
This is according to Warranty Direct, which analysed thousands of three and four-year old cars.
It found that the average repair cost for cars that have just seen the end of their manufacturer warranty period is £338.
While suspension components are the parts most likely to cause extra expense at the first MOT, the second most likely is the ABS braking system.
Fixing this will set a car owner back around £667 to fix.
Warranty Direct managing director, Duncan McClure Fisher, said that a car's first MOT is not always remembered for the right reasons.
"Three years is the age at which cars usually lose their manufacturer cover and it's no accident that it's also typically when some parts start wearing out," he added.
Mytyres.co.uk stressed that drivers need to check their tyres regularly for wear and tear, not just before their MOTs.
