I had a blown headlight bulb on a journey recently and stopped and and purchased a pair of 200% brighter own brand Halfords bulbs. My previous bulbs were Osram night breaker from ABD…..These replacements were shockingly poor so as soon as we returned home I ordered some new bulbs from ABD.
I wanted to try something different so bought these Philips racing bulbs. I had them a few weeks now and I’m super happy with them.
Advantages: Great spread of light and I can’t believe there’s a brighter bulb on the market at this great value price.. it’s hard to split them but I would say there’s a small increase in performance over the older Osram night breaker I had previously

Very good upgrade and more then happy with the price.
Visibly significant improvement over older bulbs (ring visionplus).
We live in an area with free roaming livestock on the road day/night - having the best performance bulbs I can fit legally is an essential safety upgrade - normal bulbs just aren't up to it.
Advantages: Direct fit H4 halogen upgrade, no extra current draw (so no additional potential heat or wiring issues) and fully road legal with no dazzle or glare.
Compared to my previous aged Ring Vision plus 150 bulbs these are a fair bit brighter on dip but with a much improved, and very obvious full beam improvement.
Visibly better throw and spread- dip beam can only do so much due to beam projection and light cut-off regs.
About as bright and white as you will get from a halogen that puts performance over trendy blueish HID style colours.
Well priced for what you get and I've never bough a bad Phillips bulb yet! Hope they last as well as previous purchases.
Disadvantages: Genuinely none for my application.
If buying for light colour you may be disappointed... go and buy a weird blue tinted bulb!

I prefer sticking to halogen bulb type lights so these are perfect.
Advantages: These bulbs produce a bright white light, which seems to be the norm these days.
The big advantage over LED headlights (in my humble opinion) is that they are a fraction of the cost to replace if the bulb fails as you can be talking hundreds of pounds to replace a whole LED headlight fitting (plus fitting). The bulbs seem to have a good dipped range too, whereas dipped LED lights are so bright they seem to dazzle more than light up the road effectively. (Again just what I’ve noticed personally)
Disadvantages: I have to use my manual headlight adjustment more option to avoid blinding oncoming drivers! Especially so after I’ve topped up with fuel or have a load in the car.

Bought to replace standard halogen bulbs. Shame they don't last longer
Advantages: Good white light that is noticeably brighter than standard halogen bulbs. Does help to see further down the road on dipped beam
Disadvantages: They don’t last very long. 1st in a twin pack failed in 5 months, replaced quickly by ABD under warranty. The 2nd failed just over 6 months, out of warranty.

You can tell they’re a brighter bulb compared to the last set I had.
I don’t like Philips packaging. I had to train like Rocky for 7 months to get the bulb released, all without touching the bulb.
Advantages: Much brighter
Disadvantages: You may have to use an angle grinder on the packaging to get the bulb out.

Having installed the bulbs on my Skoda Citigo replacing the OE H4 bulbs, night vision is substantially improved particularly on dipped beam. Before on dark, rainy nights I was having difficulty seeing much above 40 mph, now I can see enough to drive safely at 50-55 mph. The main beam, however, doesn't seem particularly better for light coverage. Good value for replacement H4 bulbs just recommended by AutoExpress as their best on test.
Advantages: Excellent dipped beam coverage.
Disadvantages: Not substantially better on main beam.

Massive improvement in light output. I'll never use standard candles again! With the colour temperature at around 4,000K' they couldn't look better. (I'm not a fan of super white lights at 6,000K'). It is a shame the light output is not specified in Lumens to make a more accurate comparison with other brands. Nevertheless, these are good! Very happy.
Advantages: Much brighter, great beam pattern, unlike some LED's, no canbus errors to worry about! Very well priced.
Disadvantages: Now I've fitted these, I'm having to replace the side light lamps to match too!

Phillips GT200 Racing Bulbs
Advantages: A good white light compared to standard bulbs, appear to have a good beam pattern currently good valu for money with price match against other suppliers.
Disadvantages: There appears to be some serious issues reported with early failures, possibly with shock from the uk,s appalling roads causing the hot filament to fail.
Also the claim of +200% light output is pie in the sky as they appear no different to the +150% bulbs that are working next to them on a 4 headlamp system.

Easy to fit and direct replacement for OEM as promised.
Vehicle registration did not pick up the right bulbs initially but simple to check what is currently fitted and amend. Maybe because it’s a older van the information was not correct.
Advantages: Great visibility on dipped and full beam. Good beam spread easily meeting MOT standards.
Disadvantages: Slightly concerned about the durability - quoted life expectancy is not great given the amount of night driving I do. Keeping the OEM ones in the van just in case. But all good so far (about 100 hours in).
