From Spring 2012, vehicles driving in France will be required to have a breathalyser kit on board, this will also apply to moped riders and motorcyclists – in fact, to anyone travelling to or through France by motor vehicle, even just for a day. Motorists are being advised to carry at least two breathalyser kits so if they have checked themselves with one they can still have a ready-to-use kit to show police if stopped.
In order to comply it is ESSENTIAL that the breathalyser complies with French Law and is NF (French Laboratory) approved.
The excellent single use breathalyser kits are easy to use and accurate for many Worldwide Police Forces (France, Italy, Spain, USA, Brazil).
If you do not have a breathalyser you could be liable for a fine!!!!
How It Works::
- If the crystals are ALL Yellow, the result is zero - you are Clear to go!
- If the crystals are Green BELOW the line, according to the tube, you are under the maximum limit. But you DO have alcohol in your blood and your judgement and reaction times will almost certainly be affected - you should consider waiting a while and retesting
- If the crystals are Green BEYOND the line - your are definitely over the limit. DO NOT DRIVE!
NF Approved - The Decree states that the breathalyzers MUST be listed in the "Official Journal of the French Republic" so you should only purchase NF-ApprovedNF Breathalyzer Approval Logo Breathalyzer Kits if you want to be certain they will be accepted by the French Gendarme.
Any device that is NF Approved will have the logo opposite on the packaging and the supplier should be able to provide you with an NF Certificate - the certificate for the Contralco tubes can be seen here.
